Time Varying Marginal Emissions Intensity of Energy Consumption: Implications for Flexible Loads

Climate-conscious electricity consumers can modify their energy consumption patterns by shifting or shedding load in order to reduce carbon emissions. The impact of modified on emissions is through the marginal intensity, i.e., emissionality resource grid. intensity varies with time, and we study peaks differences this over 2018. We find that alongside a seasonal pattern there are some times when it particularly effective shed shift load. This has implications for situations modifying expensive causes discomfort consumers, as help prioritise shift/shed actions. during these time periods identify loads might be useful shed/shift.
